Leadership - Building a winning vision


A key role of leaders in business is to create and secure support for an interesting insight for organizations or functions that they undertake. Compared to many other roles that the leader is committed, creating a vision is not the most complex of tasks. But in truth, many leaders and team leader of difficulty when it comes to creating a compelling vision. Why is this and what can be done for leaders to build a winning vision?

The time for visioning sessions

Your vision is in many ways what determines what your organization is achieving in terms of results, which in turn determines your personal success as a leader. But in truth, many leaders and leadership teams spend little or no time to create and build their vision. It 's all too easy to get stuck in the here and now and forget the long term. Make a point to set aside time on a regular basis to look at the vision and how it can be improved.

Aiming high

Aiming high is not to be completely reckless. It 'about stretching yourself and others to achieve more. It 's all too easy to fall into the trap of feeling good. When we are comfortable, we can become complacent and complacency can lead to loss of market position or reduce the quality of customer service offered. To aim high, you keep asking your self and others what is possible.

Having a long term vision

A challenging vision will take time to achieve. There will be a thing to reach during the night. As a leader you might fall into the trap of being too concerned about your future and, accordingly, we focus on a vision that gives short-term gains for you. The best leaders who achieve success quickly find out that it is essential to have a long term vision in which the organization is going to be 5, 10 or even 20 years from now.

Make it a rolling process

A vision is not something that is processed at once created and then forgotten. Must be a continuous process, where the vision is revisited, adjusted and improved. Catching a rolling process, the organization is able to respond much more quickly to market changes, new competitors and technological changes, to name a few.

Unlock your creativity

Business vision should not be regarded as something that is highly structured. The creation of large changes in performance and a successful future for the organization, requires imagination, creativity, innovation and the ability to see beyond the current situation and obstacles. These great changes and achievements lasting only be created if creativity is unlocked.
